A Message from George, KV4YS
Hello and welcome! My name is George, KV4YS, from Lexington, South Carolina. My passion for amateur radio began at the age of 11 during a visit to my Scoutmaster’s house. One unforgettable night, Mr. Poulos invited us into his dimly lit backyard garage. The warm glow of lights from the corner of the room caught my attention.
That glow came from a stunning array of radios and electronic equipment—the likes of which I’d never seen before. The faint hum of transformers and the smell of hot vacuum tubes filled the air. Then came the moment that changed everything: I discovered that this magical setup, what Mr. Poulos called a “Ham Radio,” could connect people across the globe.
I still remember him casually talking with friends from all over the U.S., finishing the evening with something he called “DXing.” From that day forward, I was hooked. Years later, I earned my license, KV4YS, and my passion for listening, restoring, and collecting radios became a lifelong hobby.
