RF Connectors (For
Antennas and Coaxial Cables)
PL-259 (UHF Connector)
- Widely used in amateur radio for HF and VHF connections.
- Mates with SO-239 sockets.
- Simple and durable, but less effective at higher frequencies
(above 300 MHz).
BNC Connector
- Small, quick-release bayonet-style connector.
- Common in handheld transceivers and test equipment.
- Works well for VHF/UHF frequencies.
SMA Connector
- Compact threaded connector used in handheld radios and some
antennas.
- SMA connectors have male and female variations .
|
N Connector
- Larger, threaded connector with superior performance at higher
frequencies (up to GHz range).
- Often used in repeater systems and high-power setups.
TNC Connector
- Threaded version of the BNC connector, providing better
performance at higher frequencies.
- Less common but found in some RF applications.
F-Type Connector
- Used primarily for receiving antennas, like TV and SDR
applications.
- Rarely used in traditional amateur radio setups.
